MANY HATS, MULTIPLE ROLES AND
i LOVE EVERY SINGLE ONE
How many 'hats' do you wear in a single day?
If you had to label each role, what would your list of roles look like?
I think of you really thought about it, you would be amazed!
The 'hats' I wear at home...
For me, wife and mother, are the two major ‘hats’ I wear unconditionally with pride every single day and I’m a ‘mammar’ now too, which is a special honour.
- Taxi Driver

And sometimes that’s just within the first hour of waking up!!

The 'hats' I wear at work...
I obviously wear all of the ‘hats’ which you would usually associate with admin and accounting roles.

Filing, accounting, banking, archiving, email management, diary management, typing, data entry, planning, scheduling, sourcing etc etc. The list goes on!
However, over the years I have added many more 'hats' to my resume especially whilst being an Executive P.A.
As a Personal Administrator is a multi faceted role, there is no getting away from the ‘outside of the norm’ tasks, and to be honest these are what makes the job so great!
I love that everyday is different and I enjoy the ‘alternative’ tasks, errands, managing of trades, sourcing of products and services, and even the tea making!
- Painter and Decorator (I have been known to paint an office or two)
- Mediator
- Negotiator
- DIY
- Customer Liaison
- Window cleaner
- Security Guard (if your names not on the list...)
- Party Planner
- Guidance counsellor
- Life Couch
- Photocopier Engineer
- Automatic Barrier engineer
- CCTV operator
- Consultant (on everything from interior design to security)
- Electricians Apprentice
- Cleaner (not my favourite!)
- Chief Tea Maker

My many 'hats' & mulitple roles in the workplace are infinite
and I have embraced each and every one of them.
A Good 'Realistic' Attitude
However, I think it’s important, especially at work, to say if you’re unsure and haven’t tackled something before. An insurance policy I guess, to reveal your possible limitations!
Having said that, it has never deterred me from giving the task a go, simply because not only do I want to learn, but I also want to help in any way I can.
I think it is a positive trait to have, don't you?
It is important to have a good realistic attitude towards tasks especially within the workplace. I might not have always been so ‘realistic’ at home – see my blog ‘For the Love of DIY’ coming soon!
I’m not saying I’m great with every single ‘hat’. I mean, window cleaning, has never been my forte. Nor was maybe my automated barrier engineer skills but when something breaks down – needs must (and I did get them going most of the time!!)
But I give my all to whatever task is at hand!
I have tried to convey the importance of this work ethic and attitude to my children. Granted they have not always listened (teens!) but hey, I have tried my best to communicate this to them. And I always say, “As long as you have a go and try your best…”
